Jason Sapp
Underwater Filmmaking and Video Production, J.W. Sapp Productions
Jason W. Sapp first picked up an underwater video camera at the age of 7 and has not put one down since. He has always had a deep passion for telling stories through images and has made it his life's work through his full service video production company, J.W. Sapp Productions. Jason has been fortunate enough to find himself behind the camera in locations all over the world for clients such as NBC, National Geographic, BBC, and Discovery.
After earning a bachelor of science degree in marine biology from Eckerd College, Jason moved to his current home in Alachua, Florida to work as an associate producer with the late Wes Skiles/Karst Productions, and to be closer to the caves and springs he loves.
An avid cave, technical, and rebreather diver, Jason is constantly challenging himself to use the most advanced technologies available to bring back stunning images of things most will never see. Jason’s scientific background inspires him to continue to be on the cutting edge of discovery and exploration.
Aside from filmmaking, Jason is regularly involved in various scientific research projects with the hope of finding out more about our world. He has been part of research teams investigating lemon shark aggregation, goliath grouper spawning, water snake populations, and freshwater turtle populations. He is also involved in numerous cave research, survey, and exploration projects.
Investigation into the unknown is one of Jason’s deepest passions, and this is reflected in his work as both a scientist and a filmmaker. His production company now operates full force with the goal of showing the world what we have never seen before.
