CAVERN TRAINING

Teaches fundamental skills for safe cavern diving. 100-foot depth limit (30m), 200-foot (61m) combined depth & penetration limit, no decompression, daylight zone only. Class is taught in open water gear with slight modifications. Course is for recreational divers who wish to safely enjoy the beauty of cavern diving OR for the diver who is curious if cave diving might be of interest to them.

Minimum 3 dives: 2 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Advanced Open Water certified.

BASIC CAVE TRAINING

This course covers the basic principles of actual cave diving. Accident analysis forms the basis of the training. The basis of this course is aimed at perfecting basic skills and the mastering of techniques and procedures required for the most elementary of cave dives. Cave dives are planned around very limited penetrations so that the diver may progress into cave diving at a conservative pace. The Basic Cave Diver course is not intended to train divers for all facets of cave diving. This course develops the minimum skills and knowledge required for limited penetration cave diving. Dive planning, cave environment, procedures, techniques, problem solving, and other specialized needs of cavern/cave diving are covered.

Minimum 3 dives: 2 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Advanced Open Water certified.

FULL CAVE TRAINING

A combination of Apprentice and Full Cave, emphasis is upon dive planning and skill perfection through actual cave dives. Techniques learned through the earlier Basic Cave Diver and Cavern Diver courses are critiqued and expanded. Exposure to more sophisticated cave-diving scenarios is the foundation of this training. Complex cave dive planning and execution is emphasized.

Minimum 6 dives: 4 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Basic Cave certified.

OPEN WATER SIDEMOUNT TRAINING

This course covers the basics principles of sidemount diving in an open water environment. This certification is an excellent introduction to technical diving with the added benefit of donning/doffing tanks in-water, allowing the diver to avoid carrying heavy twin cylinders on the back. Strong emphasis on gear configuration along with awareness and safety precautions specific to sidemount diving. Divers will learn techniques such as in-water cylinder removals, buoyancy and trim and gas management of twin, independent cylinders.

Minimum 4 dives: 2 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, minimum of 25 logged dives.

CAVE SIDEMOUNT TRAINING

Designed to expose the experienced cave diver to alternative cylinder and harness configurations when back-mounted cylinders are not appropriate or available. Strong emphasis on gear configuration along with awareness and safety precautions specific to sidemount diving. Includes more advanced techniques such as in-water cylinder removals, negotiating restrictions and gas management considerations for a truly independent cylinder configuration.

Minimum 3 dives: 2 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Full Cave certified with a minimum of 50 non-training cave dives.

DPV

This program can be conducted in the cave environment for those with suitable experience. The course is intended to provide the Full Cave Diver with the basic knowledge, skills and specialized techniques to effectively and safely use a diver propulsion vehicle in the cave environment. Strong emphasis is placed on awareness of the potential negative impact of DPVs to the cave environment in an effort to increase the student’s awareness of cave conservation issues. Modified gas management rules will be discussed and implemented and emergency procedures practiced in both the open water and cave environments. In addition to all equipment required at the (Full) Cave Diver level, each candidate must provide a DPV suitable to the cave environment, DPV tow strap, stage cylinder and in-water decompression cylinder.

Minimum 2 dives: 2 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Full Cave certified with a minimum of 50 non-training cave dives.

NITROX TRAINING

Learn how to choose the proper blend of Nitrox for your dive profile, determine maximum depth limits for your Nitrox mixture, analyze your breathing mixture, and plan and safely execute each dive. Includes the physiology of oxygen and nitrogen; advantages, disadvantages, and risks of Nitrox; oxygen toxicity; hazards and precautions of handling oxygen; the concept of Equivalent Air Depth; use of EANx with standard Air Dive Tables; common gas mixing procedures; and more.

Minimum 2 dives: 1 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Open Water certified

ADVANCED NITROX TRAINING

This program is designed to extend the divers knowledge with O2 mixes of up to 1.5 PO2 and teaches one stage cylinder decompression techniques. It further develops diving skills and provides a greater understanding of oxygen use as well as the Nitrox diving concept.

Minimum 4 dives: 2 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Nitrox certified

TRIMIX I TRAINING

The first of two Trimix classes, this course focuses on executing and planning dives using normoxic Trimix (16-percent oxygen) utilizing 100-percent oxygen for decompression. Depth up to 200-feet (61m).

Minimum 6 dives: 5 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Advanced Nitrox certified with 100 logged dives (20 decompression dives)

TRIMIX II TRAINING

The final Trimix class, this course focuses on executing and planning dives using hypoxic Trimix (less than 16-percent oxygen) utilizing 100-percent oxygen for decompression.Depth up to 250-feet. Can be taught in conjunction with Trimix I.

Minimum 2 dives: 2 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Trimix I certified

O2PTIMA CCR TRAINING

Teaches fundamental rebreather skills on the O2ptima CCR. Open water, 140 foot max depth (160 foot if recreational Trimix certified), maximum 15 minute decompression. Minimum of 500 minutes of confined and open water training. Students must have their own O2ptima CCR unit.

Minimum 8 dives: 5-6 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Nitrox certified

CCR CAVE TRAINING

Designed for the experienced cave diver who has transitioned from open circuit to rebreather. Emphasis is on gas planning and management as well as safety and emergency skills specific to the cave rebreather diver.

Minimum xx dives: 2 days

Pre-req: 18 years of age, Full cave and CCR certified

REFINING TECHNIQUES COURSE

A variety of techniques can be taught, as requested by the student. Choice includes: CCR Bailout Techniques: Teaches bailout configuration options for CCR specific to the divers environment (deep, wreck penetration, cave)Intro to Tech: Teaches gear configuration, buoyancy & trim using double cylinders, kicks and basic safety drills.
