Nomad Expedition Rig

#BC3100P

NEW TANK HARDWARE NOW INCLUDED!

A lot has changed since the 1970's when North Florida sidemount divers were modifying jacket BC's to dive caves with small-size sidemount tanks. Today, the Nomad Expedition Rig has 50 pounds/23kg of lift, allowing divers to dive heavy steel tanks using a wet suit or a dry suit.

However, the Nomad is not just for sidemount diving. Divers have embraced the Nomad as a low-profile rig for sidemounting stage bottles and rebreather bailout bottles. The Nomad wing provides excellent streamlining by integrating the TransPac harness through wing keepers that hold the wing low across the back, which reduces drag. Proper trim is achieved with a long wing and a Gusset Control System (GCS) cord that is positioned on the upper portion of the wing, forcing the lower part of the wing to inflate and keep lift around the hips where it is most needed.

Utilizing the TransPac harness, [continued]

tanks are attached with a bungee and buttplate system that allow the tanks to ride closely at the diver's side, yet not jammed under the arms. Tank bungees attach to the back of the TransPac and secure to the chest D-ring. A standard 2-inch crotch strap is included. See tech specs for options on bungee and buttplate sizing.

New tank hardware now allows the Nomad diver to attach tanks using a stage strap hose and neck choker. This new system means an easier attachment point, since divers do not have to strain to get the bungee threaded through the tank regulator. Instead, you can attach the bungee to the harness D-ing and simply clip in the top clip on the tank to the bungee itself. Tank hardware includes hose retainers, stage straps, tank chokers, cam straps and XL bolt snaps. See tech specs for options for different tank sizes and/or hardware preferences.
