O2ptima Rebreather

#DRT-1-REVD

The O2ptima is a fully closed circuit, constant PO2, electronically-driven rebreather with built-in decompression ability. Unique in the rebreather marketplace, the O2ptima is specifically designed for the rigors of cave diving where immediate surfacing is not possible. The resulting features are also highly desirable for wreck and deep ocean divers.

The O2ptima's design includes minimal risk of a caustic cocktail. Two water traps in the loop along with horizontal, behind-the-head positioning of the scrubber canister create a difficult path for water to travel. An even greater advantage is gained by using Micropore Extend Air scrubber cartridges, which do not contain dust. It is the dust that reacts quickly with water to form a caustic cocktail.

The O2ptima delivers excellent work-of-breathing that allows divers faced with strong flow or ripping current to breathe comfortably. Over-the-shoulder counterlungs [continued]

along with the scrubber positioned behind the head means gas has less distance to travel, so the diver does not have to work as hard to "pull" gas through the loop. This also allows the O2ptima to have smaller diameter loop hoses, which minimizes jaw fatigue.

A stainless steel frame and Rhinotec 600-denier polyester cover protects the O2ptima from tight cave squeezes and rolling boats. Hoses, regulators and tanks are kept neatly streamlined and away from potential snags inside a wreck or cave.

The O2ptima comes standard with the following features (see tech specs for details):

  • Over-the-shoulder counterlungs
  • Juergensen Marine Hammerhead Electronics
  • JM Rev D Primary with DIVA/HUD control
  • JM Rev C Secondary for back up PO2 monitoring
  • Heads-up-display (HUD)
  • Display Integrated Vibrating Alarm (DIVA)
  • Dive Surface Valve [continued]

(DSV)

  • Automatic Diluent Valve (ADV)
  • Water traps
  • Regulators and hoses
  • AI R22 Oxygen Sensors
  • Choice of Dive Rite harness
  • CCR EXP wing
    • COUNTERLUNGS: Over-the-shoulder 2.5L counterlungs, 5 liter total loop volume provide easier work of breathing in all dive positions. Counterlungs include diluent and oxygen manual addition valves. An over pressurization drain valve is located on the exhalation counterlung. The O2ptima counterlungs are covered in tear-resistant Rhinotec. ( 6 liter set available on request)
    • ELECTRONICS: Juergensen Marine's Hammerhead Electronics includes the new Rev D primary controller handset that maintains oxygen injection, PO2 monitoring, set points and onboard decompression information. The new color display has easy to read sensor reading and optional compass and GPS. Bluetooth connectivity for firmware upgrades and PC application.
    • [continued]
    • BACK UP ELECTRONICS: Completely redundant secondary Rev C handset displays PO2, dive time, current depth and max depth. Optional secondary decompression available through Juergensen Marine. Only shared component is three O2 sensors. Compatible with off-board CCR capable computers. The O2ptima can be ordered without secondary electronics for those that want prefer a third party back up PO2 monitoring. The O2ptima has ¼ NPT auxiliary opening for third party monitors.
    • HUD/DIVA: The new Rev D heads up display is just that with PO2 monitoring via programmable green and red LED, blue warning light for any alarms or sensor variance and buddy light. Also a reading and signal light. Both audible and vibrating out of range PO2 warning. Another set of LED lights track decompression stops.
    • [continued]
    • DSV: Dive surface valve utilizes a friction seal so there are no o-rings to wear out and replace on the barrel.
    • ADV: Automatic diluent valve adds diluent to loop automatically maintaining a breathable volume. Located on the inhalation counterlung, the ADV includes an in-line shutoff in case of free flow.
    • WATER TRAPS: Dual water traps, one in the canister and one in the T-piece on the exhalation counter lung minimizes possible water interaction with the scrubber cartridge.
    • REGULATORS & HOSES: Dive Rite RG1208-5 first stages with over pressurization valves for safety.
    • DIMENSIONS: 13 inches x 7 inches x 25 inches (33 cm x 18 cm x 64 cm)
    • WEIGHT: includes tanks, cartridge, TransPac, wing?Aluminum 13 tanks: 51 lbs (23 kg)?Steel 13 tanks: 56 lbs (25 kg)?Steel 30 tanks: 65 lbs (29 kg)
    • Here's why the O2ptima's O2 gauge is measured in BAR:

    The scrubber cartridge scrubs 240L CO2. Conservatively estimating that 1L of O2 consumed produces 1L of CO2 then we know we can use 240L of O2 supply gas before the cartridge needs to be changed.
    First thing to know is the size of your tank in liters.
    27ft3 = 4L
    20ft3 = 3L
    13ft3 = 2L
    6ft3 = 1L
    A 4L tank holds 4L at 1 bar. Said another way, there are 4L for every bar. The cartridge can scrub240Lor 240L / 4L per bar = 60 bar (from a 4L tank).
    The following represents how much O2 can be consumed using a single cartridge depending on your tank size.
    Tank Size = Bar of O2
    4L = 60, 3L = 80, 2L = 120, 1L = 240

    • The Rev D electronics must run on the rechargeable batteries that [continued]

    come with the unit but you can power the Rev C secondary on a non-rechargeable 3.6v lithium or high quality alkaline battery. The non-rechargeable lithium battery will last for up to 20 hours in the secondary and the alkaline should be changed when you change the cartridge. Apply the same rule to the Rev D electronics put a fresh rechargeable battery in when you change a cartridge set the low voltage warning at 3.3v on the Rev D primary.

    • The O2ptima rebreather harness comes with offset D-rings for clipping bailout bottles. We recommend using the offset D-rings to clip bungees for sidemounting the bailout, along with a Tech Buttplate for streamlining.
    • The stainless steel stand has outrigger rails on the bottom of the stand for clipping accessories like reels and/or lift bags. It’s adjustable for short 13 cuft (2 [continued]

    liter) cylinders and expandable for the longer 20/27 cuft (3/4 liter) cylinders. When traveling shorten the foot so it packs smaller. It takes a ½ wrench to make the adjustment.
