O2ptima Rebreather
#DRT-1-REVD
The O2ptima is a fully closed circuit, constant PO2, electronically-driven rebreather with built-in decompression ability. Unique in the rebreather marketplace, the O2ptima is specifically designed for the rigors of cave diving where immediate surfacing is not possible. The resulting features are also highly desirable for wreck and deep ocean divers.
The O2ptima's design includes minimal risk of a caustic cocktail. Two water traps in the loop along with horizontal, behind-the-head positioning of the scrubber canister create a difficult path for water to travel. An even greater advantage is gained by using Micropore Extend Air scrubber cartridges, which do not contain dust. It is the dust that reacts quickly with water to form a caustic cocktail.
The O2ptima delivers excellent work-of-breathing that allows divers faced with strong flow or ripping current to breathe comfortably. Over-the-shoulder counterlungs [continued]
along with the scrubber positioned behind the head means gas has less distance to travel, so the diver does not have to work as hard to "pull" gas through the loop. This also allows the O2ptima to have smaller diameter loop hoses, which minimizes jaw fatigue.
A stainless steel frame and Rhinotec 600-denier polyester cover protects the O2ptima from tight cave squeezes and rolling boats. Hoses, regulators and tanks are kept neatly streamlined and away from potential snags inside a wreck or cave.
The O2ptima comes standard with the following features (see tech specs for details):
(DSV)
The scrubber cartridge scrubs 240L CO2. Conservatively estimating that 1L of O2 consumed produces 1L of CO2 then we know we can use 240L of O2 supply gas before the cartridge needs to be changed.
First thing to know is the size of your tank in liters.
27ft3 = 4L
20ft3 = 3L
13ft3 = 2L
6ft3 = 1L
A 4L tank holds 4L at 1 bar. Said another way, there are 4L for every bar. The cartridge can scrub240Lor 240L / 4L per bar = 60 bar (from a 4L tank).
The following represents how much O2 can be consumed using a single cartridge depending on your tank size.
Tank Size = Bar of O2
4L = 60, 3L = 80, 2L = 120, 1L = 240
come with the unit but you can power the Rev C secondary on a non-rechargeable 3.6v lithium or high quality alkaline battery. The non-rechargeable lithium battery will last for up to 20 hours in the secondary and the alkaline should be changed when you change the cartridge. Apply the same rule to the Rev D electronics put a fresh rechargeable battery in when you change a cartridge set the low voltage warning at 3.3v on the Rev D primary.
